A Day Off…

Woke-up yesterday morning at 5am to get ready for work.  After getting out of the shower I got a pleasant phone call from my vice-principal.  School had been canceled.  You would have thought I would be happy, well I was not.  First of all, since I had just showered I was wide awake and my hair was wet.  Going back to bed is what I wanted to do but it took a while for me to get back to sleep.  Second of all, the roads were not bad at all.  I think the districts got a little cancel happy because of last week.

In the spirit of enjoying my day off with my husband we went out for lunch to BJ’s.  We usually got to BJ’s for pizza and beer, but we are eating healthy.  BJ’s has one of my favorite salads, The Italian Market Salad.  It is a bed of greens topped with different italian meats, mozzarella balls, parmesan bits, feta cheese, peppercinis, cucumbers, roasted bell peppers, etc.  It is tossed with a herb vinaigrette and it is delicious.  I still caved in and had a beer with it, a homebrew: Harvest Hefeweizen (an unfiltered, creamy, wheat beer).

We had tickets to the Dallas Stars Hockey Game for the evening.  We are BIG hockey fans.  A live hockey games is more exciting than a live football, basketball, or baseball game any day.  The Stars were playing Arizona.  It was a great game, neck-in-neck throughout all three periods.  It was body slam central last night, woohoo!  I constantly yelled at the ref because he broke-up what could have been a GREAT fight three different times.  Why won’t the ref just let them fight?  Don’t they know that is my favorite part of hockey? ;)

At the end of the game it was tied 2-2 so we went into overtime.  We could have won the game but the goalie let a shot through 2 minutes into OT.  The Star’s lost!!!
