Today is the Superbowl and my husband and I have decided to stay home and make it a night of just the two of us and the dog. It has been a few weeks since we enjoyed a lazy weekend day at the house, and we were desperately wanting one.
While we typically watch the game every year, especially for the commercials, this year we might just catch up on some television and then pop-in a movie. I KNOW, DON’T HATE US! I like football and all, but we are really more of a hockey family.
Since we aren’t exactly watching the game we decided to make a different kind of Superbowl cuisine. Instead of an array of artery-blocking hot dogs, queso, and nachos; we are making a moderately healthy meal.
Salad: Roasted Beet, Avocado, and Grapefruit Salad (Authentic Suburban Gourmet)
Entree: Buffalo Wing Sauce Grilled Chicken Breast (Mr. SW)
Side: Cheddar, Beer, and Mustard Pull-Apart Bread (Smitten Kitchen)
Dessert: Orange-Almond Lace Cookies (Bon Appetit)
I am very excited about the meal, assuming everything goes as planned, and I am even more excited about enjoying it with my hubby next to a blazing fire.
Happy Superbowl!!!
So jealous you got to make the salad and bread….I want to also! How did they turn out?
They were great! I really like the salad but I just made a mustard-balsamic dressing instead of the maple one they suggested. I didn’t even need the avocado, but it was still good. As far as the bread goes I loved it. I used our home-brew beer for it. I would definitely make it again, and next time I would add more cheese and filling.
